Parenting

Parenting, in my estimation, is the most satisfying, rewarding and quite possibly, the most challenging task we can take on as adults. Every family develops their own unique dance when it comes to the job of parenting which is choreographed taking into the account the temperaments and dispositions of both child(ren) and caregiver(s) as well as the family structure and dynamics. At the same time there are some developmental issues and emotional/psychological needs that are fairly universal for children. Discussing your particular family dance in balance with your child’s needs can help to make the parenting journey seem a bit clearer.

The transition into parenthood is profoundly life changing and can cause parents to re-evaluate issues related to their own identity either individually or as a couple. The individual identity questions that may arise with the birth of a child can be particularly significant for mothers in our culture.

I work with parents to provide support with both the raising of children and the development of the individual and/or couple as parents.
