Adolescents

Raising teens can be rewarding, terrifying, challenging and heartwarming all at the same time. I work with adolescents in conjunction with their families to help navigate this rich developmental stage. Typically I work primarily with the adolescent on a weekly basis with collateral sessions every 4-6 weeks with the primary caregiver(s). The unique needs of the family are assessed to determine on what level the treatment plan may include work with all of the family members together.

Because I work with adolescents in the context of their family system the initial consultation is a session with the caregiver(s). In this session, relevant background and developmental information will be collected. This is also a session for therapist and parents to collaborate on goals for treatment and an initial treatment plan before introducing the teen into his or her psychotherapy experience.
